The Indiana public access counselor issues advisory opinions on Access to the Public Records Act and Open Door Law, both of which Indiana state law declares can be liberally interpreted so Hoosiers can be fully informed about activities of their government. Lawmakers, including municipal lawmakers, seek counsel from the public access counselor. Indiana State Senator Freeman (R) disagreed with an advisory opinion issued by the public access counselor and the result is HB1338, which will lead to a less informed public.
