BARBARA DOMER: Valparaiso City Council District 3

I believe we are all in support of the increased funding for paving. The city is fortunate to have the resources to support this funding request, as a matter of fact, there are multiple sources where the funds can be appropriated from. My recommendation is to draw from the funds whose use in restricted to infrastructure first, then draw from other unrestricted funds. The mayor stated my recommendation is reasonable. Let’s get this done on April 22 so the CIty Engineer can get the project plan finalized!

2024 Paving Budget $ 3.25 million

Community Crossing Matching Grant $1.50 million (award today)

Additional funding recommendation:

Local Road & Street and Motor Vehicle Highway $ 3.1 million (restricted use)

Riverboat Funds $ 0.95 million or $950,000

Grand Total 2024 Paving $8.8 million
